"We're painting pictures, NOT walls!"
The time has come for me to now finally show my work publicly. My paintings convey my inner being, are personal answers based on the most diverse, but also deep events in my life.
As a child I loved to tirelessly draw black and white pictures with ink. For years I went to the studio of Magdaléna Štrompachová. Her words still ring in my ears: “Don’t make just color strokes. We paint pictures, not walls!"
Magdaléna Štrompachová was a painter, restorer of paintings and sculptures and an important Slovak pedagogue. Together with her husband Ľudovít Štrompach they founded the first School of Performing Arts in Prievidza Slovakia in 1963, where she taught from 1964 to 1973.
Ever since I have started to do art, I have cultivated my own style in expressing my view on form and color. However, due to my fascination for art I decided to study architecture and interior design. I was magically drawn to the structure of the old houses, always seeing in the old architecture possibilities for optimisation and at the same time to preserve the valuable and historic substance. To me, these old structures were like stable, unpainted canvases that called for supplementation, adaptation and refreshment.
As an interior designer and architect, I have a particular affinity for aesthetics, bringing the importance of negative and positive space into an appealing balance, and aiming for the perfect light to create harmony and well-being.
